Southern Belle

Ever wondered where Southern Belles come from? Southern Belles are made, not born. For your very own Southern Belle, this is  how to make one.

You will need:  8 Georgia peaches- parboiled, peeled, sliced into thin wedges

1/4C sugar- for  sweetness

1/4C brown sugar- for niceness

1/4tsp ground cinnamon- for spiciness

1/8tsp nutmeg- for  sun-kissed color

1tsp lemon juice- for golden hair

2tsp cornstarch- for sticky personality

#1) Preheat oven to( 425) F, (220)C

#2) Combine peaches, white sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice and cornstarch in a 2-quart baking dish. Bake for 10 minutes.

#3)  Combine 1C flour, 1/4C sugar, 1/4C brown sugar, 1tsp baking powder, 1/2tsp salt. Blend in 6TBS unsalted butter  until mixture resembles course meal. Stir in 1/4C boiling water.

#4) Remove peaches from oven. Drop spoonfuls of love over them. Sprinkle entire Southern Belle with cinnamon and sugar mixture. Bake until love has caressed completely and top is golden blonde, 30 minutes.
